Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Pyramids Road Guest House collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We keep this deliberately short and plain — if anything here is unclear, just ask us.

Who we are

What we collect

We only collect what we need to arrange your stay:

• Booking and enquiry details — your name, email address, phone number, arrival and departure dates, number of guests, room preference and any requests you send us.
• Tour and transfer details — the tour or airport pickup you want, your flight number if you've asked us to collect you, and the number of people travelling.
• Messages — the content of emails, WhatsApp messages, contact-form submissions and chat conversations you have with us.
• Identity documents at check-in — Egyptian law requires accommodation providers to record guest passport details on arrival. This is a legal obligation, not a choice on our part.
• Technical information — your approximate location, browser and device type, and how you use this website, collected through analytics cookies.

We do not collect or store your card details. Payment is made at the guest house, and where a third-party booking platform handles payment, it is processed by them and never passes through this website.

Why we use it

• To confirm and manage your reservation, and to contact you about it.
• To arrange the tours, transfers and airport pickups you've requested.
• To answer your questions and provide support before, during and after your stay.
• To meet legal and tax obligations in Egypt, including guest registration requirements.
• To understand how our website is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with:

• Our booking system, which processes reservations made through this site.
• Drivers and guides we work with, who receive only your name, pickup time, flight number and group size.
• Booking platforms such as Booking.com and Airbnb, when your reservation was made through them, under their own privacy policies.
• Google Analytics, which processes anonymised website usage data.
• Egyptian authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

Cookies

This website uses cookies for two things: measuring website traffic through Google Analytics, and operating the chat assistant and the guest review widget. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time — the site will still work, though the chat assistant may not.

The Google Map on our contact and home pages only loads when you choose to open it, so Google sets no cookies from that map until you click it.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept for as long as we are required to keep them for accounting and legal purposes under Egyptian law. Enquiries that don't result in a booking are deleted within two years. Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop contacting you at any time. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have these rights under the GDPR, and you may also complain to your national data protection authority.

Security

We limit access to guest information to the people who need it to do their job, and we use reputable service providers for bookings and communications. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 except as part of a family booking made by an adult.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on our home page.
